Session 1: Smart Cities — Enhancing existing environments

Smart Cities – Enhancing existing environments
Like other UK cities, Birmingham has experienced significant challenges over the last few weeks. As we all begin revaluating our priorities, what effect will this have on the future of the city? How will Birmingham continue to provide sustainable, resilient and liveable environments for generations now and in the future? Who is leading the way?

Topics to be discussed include:

How has the city and the wider West Midlands region responded to the unprecedented challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic?
What near-term effects are expected on the ongoing regeneration of the city centre and other parts of Birmingham?
Will the real estate industry’s priorities change as we eventually move pass this crisis, and how might these be reflected in changes to the developing vision for Birmingham and its built environment?
Speakers:

Michael Davies, Director, Planning, Savills

Jacqueline Homan, Head of Environment, West Midlands Combined Authority

David Perry, Partner, Shoosmiths

Chair: Tim Burke, Deputy Editor, EG
